[ Welcome to *mediumpace.com ]
*mediumpace is the personnel website of me (barry tavernier).
The site is mostly based around the image wall which is a small collection of my work. The wall features web, interactive, print and branding. It is built with the idea that you should explore whatever takes your fancy.
I hope you like what you see and if you feel the need to force freelance work on me and pay me in diamonds I won’t refuse.
Below for anyone interested is a little bit about my background in the work arena:
[ Background ] I began working in print design back in September 2000 at an in-house design studio, after spending time travelling around Australia. After working in this field for approximately a year I moved into basic web design and then onto dynamic websites using PHP. At this point I was working in both areas equally, designing and artworking print projects when required and programming the rest of the time.
About a year later I moved into Flash and ActionScript and have never looked back.
Throughout my career I have worked as part of a team but am equally as happy to work autonomously on projects from concept to completion.
If asked I would say my greatest asset is my adaptability and flexibility. Owing to my work history I have picked up extensive knowledge in various disciplines and this enables me to work in many areas proving invaluable to my colleagues and clients.
My adaptability was proven in my previous job at Outlook where I was constantly working on new projects. The work for Outlook took a turn towards web / CD-Rom based solutions; such as an interactive Flash based employment handbook for Blacks Leisure. This has also been ported to the web due to its small file size and dynamic XML based content. Working on projects for the RSC, celebrating 150 years since the discovery of Mauveine, has enabled me to work with web standards and accessibility.
My role at next.co.uk has moved me a lot more into GUI & useability. I work on future development projects which give me the opportunity to design creative solutions for a wide range of existing and upcoming projects. I may seem a little cloak and dagger in this section but a lot of what I do is classified and if I told yo what I did I'd have to... well you know ;)
